Face and Body Radiofrequency
With radiofrequency treatment, it is possible to improve wrinkles and facial skin laxity, achieving a firmer, smoother and more refreshed appearance without surgery.
Radiofrequency is an excellent ally for improving skin laxity, as it stimulates the skin’s own collagen production and helps achieve visible, natural-looking results.
Over the years, the natural network of collagen and elastin fibres that gives the skin its structure, firmness and elasticity gradually weakens.
This process may be accelerated by sun exposure, environmental pollution and other factors involved in photoageing.
In addition, as we age, the skin produces less collagen and elastin, and their quality also decreases. As a result, the skin gradually loses firmness, tone and elasticity.
What can we do about it?
Face and body radiofrequency, using advanced ACCENT XLi / HD3D technology, is an effective technique for improving skin laxity on the face and body.
This technology uses state-of-the-art dielectric energy, a high-power localised thermotherapy system that concentrates heat in the skin layer where the concern is located, such as cellulite, localised fat or skin laxity.
Results can be visible from the first sessions and improve progressively over time.
Face and body radiofrequency also stimulates the body’s natural regeneration mechanisms, encouraging the synthesis of new collagen and elastin and helping to improve the skin’s support network.
Is radiofrequency safe?
Yes. Radiofrequency is a clinically proven and safe technique for firming and contouring the skin. It stimulates the patient’s own collagen production and helps improve skin tone, contour and texture.
It is often described as a non-surgical lifting treatment because it does not require anaesthesia. It can be applied to different areas of the body, especially the face, neck, abdomen, thighs and buttocks, and is suitable for different skin types. The treatment is generally comfortable and does not usually cause significant pain or inflammation. After a radiofrequency session, the patient can normally return to daily activities straight away. There may be slight redness in the treated area, but this usually disappears within a short time.
At Dr Pedro Antolín’s clinic, we use Accent XLi / HD3D technology to offer personalised face and body treatments designed to improve firmness, contour and skin quality:
- Body reshaping.
- Reduction of localised fat deposits.
- Improvement in the appearance of cellulite.
- Skin tightening, toning and regeneration.
It can also help improve the appearance of the face through treatments focused on:
- Redefinition of the facial oval.
- Skin tightening.
- Improvement of wrinkles and expression lines.
- Improved skin quality, luminosity and elasticity.
- Improvement of jowls and lower facial laxity.
It can be used on different facial areas, including the face, facial oval, neck, brow area, nasolabial folds, under-eye area and eyelids.
Facial radiofrequency is particularly suitable for patients with mild to moderate facial skin laxity, usually between the ages of 30 and 50, who wish to improve firmness, support the eyelid area and soften the appearance of under-eye bags and dark circles. In cases of more advanced skin laxity, results may be more limited and other treatments may be more appropriate.
It can also offer excellent support in postpartum treatments, after liposuction and following weight changes, helping to improve skin firmness and tone.
How the treatment is performed
Radiofrequency treatment is performed by gently sliding a handpiece over the area to be treated. This delivers energy to the deeper layers of the skin, helping to stimulate collagen production, improve firmness and correct skin laxity.
The patient usually feels a gentle warming sensation, as the treatment is performed at approximately 40–42 ºC on the skin surface. This controlled deep heat indicates that collagen stimulation is taking place.
A facial radiofrequency session usually lasts approximately 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the areas to be treated.
The treatment stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin fibres, helping to replace aged fibres and improve tissue firmness and elasticity. In short, thanks to XLi / HD3D technology, the face and body can appear firmer, smoother and more toned in a natural and progressive way.
How it works
To understand how face and body radiofrequency works, it is useful to understand the structure of the skin.
The skin is composed of three layers:
- The outer visible layer, known as the epidermis.
- The intermediate collagen-rich layer located beneath the surface, known as the dermis.
- The deeper subcutaneous layer, also known as subcutaneous tissue, which contains fat and a network of collagen fibres.
When collagen in these layers becomes weakened or damaged, the skin loses tone and begins to sag. For this reason, treatments that work only on the surface cannot restore collagen support in the deeper layers of the skin.
